Himalayan Studies Programme

The Himalaya-Tibetan Plateau (HTP) is of great importance to the global climate system. It is well accepted that climate change will have huge implications for millions of people living in High Asia and downstream catchment areas. The primary aim of this programme is to bring together regional knowledge and research findings under the auspices of a truly multinational, interdisciplinary research framework programme for the Himalaya-Tibetan Plateau (HTP) region.

 

Partnerships

Current collaborative partners include:  Monsoon Asia Integrated Regional Study (MAIRS), International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Monash Sustainability Institute, Monash University (MSI), Department of Geography,Tribhuvan University, Centre for Global Change (CGC), Institute for Development and Innovation (IDI), Nepal Academy of Science & Technology, Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC), China Dialogue, Kumaon University.

Supporting Agencies: Australian AID, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT); Chinese Academy of Sciences; Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN)
